International
Engaging and empowering people is key to addressing social inequality and its symptoms. How might Spice credits apply in other social, cultural and economic contexts?

Spice credits have been hugely successful at empowering people in transforming communities in the UK and in working co-productively with public and community services to enhance their relevance and impact. In these communities the credit system, has helped re-establish community cohesion and rebuild social wealth with consequential economic advantages. Spice believes that there are potential applications for international development initiatives promoting ‘bottom-up’ development and for more directly targeting economic advantages.

Spice’s First Steps Internationally

Spice is currently supporting the Commonwealth Youth Exchange Council (CYEC) in developing the Welsh leg of a British Council Youth Leadership programme.

Spice works closely with the social trade organisation ‘Stro’ and with the new economics foundation (nef) and are exploring an opportunity to develop the credit system in El Salvador.

In 2007 Spice presented at the Youth Summit in Kampala for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
